There’s already a lot of reasons to love Lupe Fiasco, but now we’ve got one more. The rapper, who recently released his Enemy of the State Thanksgiving mixtape and is set to release another album soon, is climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro to raise awareness for the worldwide water crisis. Lupe, along with Jessica Biel, Santigold, and Kenna, is doing it through a program called Summit on the Summit and is set to climb the mountain sometime at the end of this year.
In a recent interview with MTV News, Kenna said that “Lupe Fiasco thinks that he is in shape, but he’s in for a rude awakening. It’s a lot of cardio and lung capacity. Altitude is really crazy and oxygen is really crazy.” This isn’t exactly you’re average hike in the woods. Even Kenna, who’s in very good shape, tried to climb the mountain in the past and wasn’t able to make it to the summit. All the celebs doing the climb, however, have been training intensely for the past few months. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone brought a camera and made a documentary of the whole ordeal. It should be interesting to see how it goes.
